BIOGRAPHY

Music often inspires me to create art; trying to visually represent the way a song makes me feel. Album covers also inspire me, like Been Stellar’s Scream From New York, NY album cover in particular, which inspired me in the making of my IA project. But it is often simply the need to say something that I feel strongly about or the need to express myself which moves me to express my emotions and thoughts creatively.

I tend to gravitate towards mediums that challenge me, like charcoal and acrylic paint, as I usually find that I come out of whatever piece I'm making with either of these materials as a better artist and with a piece I didn’t know I was capable of making. I enjoy using a messy, loose technique, inspired by impressionist art. I find using splotches of colours in my paintings to create value over a more blended value scale to be much more interesting and aesthetically pleasing. Even with sculpture, I prefer a textured and rough surface over a smooth one.
